Ownership: EKKA (legal successor of the Estonian Higher Education Accreditation Centre founded in 1997) is a structural unit of Archimedes Foundation, funded by the Ministry of Education.
Scope of Authority: EKKA is the only national agency conducting the accreditation of study programmes, the quality assessment of study programme groups and the institutional accreditation in all HEIs in Estonia. It functions independently from the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research and higher education institutions.
Agency's Role: EKKA fosters the quality of Estonian higher education and promotes the best practices in quality assurance. It develops principles and procedures for conducting quality assessment of study programme groups, accreditation of higher education institutions and makes assessment decisions.
