Appeals and Complaints Committee
It is stated in the ENQA Statutes (see article 33) that there shall be an Appeals and Complaints Committee, which will hear appeals and complaints against decisions and the conduct of procedures in respect to membership matters taken by the ENQA Board.
The Composition of the Committee
The Appeals and Complaints Committee will comprise four representatives of members of ENQA. The members of the Committee are nominated by the ENQA Board and appointed by the General Assembly for a three-year term. The members of the Committee will serve continuously a maximum of six years. A member of the Committee can not also be a member of the Board, but at least one of the members will normally be a former member of the Board.
The Committee members are:
- Jon Haakstad, Senior Adviser, NOKUT, Norway (Chair)
- Oana Sarbu, Head of Experts and Inspectors Department, ARACIS, Romania
- Karena Maguire, Head of Relationship Management, QQI, Ireland
- Rafael Llavori, ANECA, Spain (Alternate Member)
The Appeals Procedure
The appeals procedure is outlined in the Rules of Procedure (Article 24).
A body whose application for membership is not accepted by the ENQA Board may appeal in writing to the Board, specifying the basis of the appeal.
The appeal shall be submitted within two calendar months from the date of receipt of the Board’s decision.
The appeal should be sent to the Director of ENQA, Maria Kelo, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Board will ask the Appeals and Complaints Committee to review the decision, and the Board’s decision on the appeal will be based on the Committee’s report. The Board’s decision on appeals is final.
For complaints relating to a member agency of ENQA, please review the ENQA complaints policy.
