ENQA Standards and Guidelines adopted in the Bergen Ministerial Meeting (01. Jun. 2005)

In their meeting of 19-20 May 2005 in Bergen, Norway, the European Ministers of Education adopted the "Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area" drafted by ENQA. ENQA also became a consultative member of the Bologna Follow-Up Group (BFUG).

In addition to having adopted the ENQA European Standards and Guidelines (ESG), the Ministers also committed themselves to introducing the model for peer review of QA agencies on a national basis, as proposed by the ESG. They welcomed the principle of a European Register of QA agencies, based on national review. The Ministers asked ENQA, in co-operation with EUA, EURASHE and ESIB, to study further the practicalities of implementation of the register and to report back to them through the BFUG. ENQA was accepted as a consultative member to the BFUG.
