News from the Board, 27 and 29 September 2009 (02. Dec. 2009)

The ENQA Board met in Barcelona on 27 and 29 September 2009 and discussed the following main topics: Strategic planning of the ENQA 2009 General Assembly, the European Register of Quality Assurance Agencies (EQAR), the composition of the new ENQA Board and upcoming events.

Final Strategic Planning of the General Assembly 2009
The Board was informed that five colleagues would be retiring from their respective QA organisations in the near future: Peter Williams (QAA, UK), Guy Aelterman (NVAO, The Netherlands), Gemma Rauret (ANECA, Spain), Javier Bará (AQU, Spain) and Rolf Heusser (OAQ, Switzerland).

The Board was informed that a short presentation by a European Commission representative on the recent EC progress report on quality assurance would be given at the General Assembly.

The Board agreed to the dates for the 2010 General Assembly. This will take place on 23-24 September 2010 in Helsinki, Finland.

European Register of Quality Assurance Agencies (EQAR)

The composition of the new ENQA Board
The Board agreed that there would be two co-opted members [Radu Damian (ARACIS, Romania) and Padraig Walsh (IUQB, Ireland)] of the Board until the next ENQA General Assembly.

The Board considered the membership arrangements for its three committees:

The Board agreed that the Finance Committee would be composed of Achim Hopbach, Tibor Szanto and Helka Kekäläinen.

The Board agreed that the Review Committee would remain divided into two sub-committees of three members and one alternate member, each of them comprising an experienced Board member who previously served on the Review Committee. The first sub-committee will be composed of Fiona Crozier, Karl Dittrich and Rafael Llavori, with Radu Damian as the alternate member. The second sub-committee will be composed of Josep Grifoll, Helka Kekäläinen and Kurt Sohm, with Padraig Walsh as the alternate member.

The Board agreed that the Membership Committee will be composed of Kurt Sohm, Tibor Szanto and Padraig Walsh with Radu Damian as the alternate member.
