Quality Assurance and Qualifications Frameworks: Exchanging Good Practice (pdf) (20. Aug. 2012)

This report is based on the ENQA workshop “Quality Assurance and Qualifications Frameworks: exchanging good practice”, which took place in Dublin, Ireland, on 9-10 February 2012 and presents articles on themes such as the state of development of qualifications frameworks, the role of agencies in the self-certification process, and the meaning of qualifications frameworks in external quality assurance.

Internal Quality Assurance and Benchmarking (pdf) (23. May. 2012)

This report is based on the annual ENQA Internal Quality Assurance seminar on the theme of Learning from each other – using benchmarking to develop IQA that was held on 16-17 June 2011 in Helsinki, Finland.
It presents a general overview of the benchmarking theme and discusses common features and differences of the benchmarked agencies’ IQA activities in terms of the selected three themes: performance indicators, follow-up on feedback and staff competence/development. The report also puts forward the benchmarking partners’ views on strengths, weaknesses and recommendations for development of each other’s activities, as well as the good practice they have identified on the selected theme.

Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes (pdf) (08. Mar. 2012)

This Report is based on the ENQA seminar on "Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes" that was held on 19 September 2011 in Vienna, Austria. The purpose of this seminar was to analyse the experience already gaind in quality assurance of joint programmes as regards specific issues and methodological approaches, and to make recommendations to the ministers responsible for higher education in the Euopean Higher Education Area.

Quality Assurance in Lifelong Learning (pdf) (14. Feb. 2012)

This report is based on the ENQA workshop on the theme “Quality Assurance
in Lifelong Learning” that was held from the 16-17th of May 2011 in Bonn, Germany.
The workshop provided a platform for discussion and exchange of experiences among the main stakeholders in quality assurance. The workshop aimed to contribute to joint understanding of the quality assurance in lifelong learning (LLL) between stakeholders, to disseminate information on good practice of external quality assirance in LLL, and to discuss standards and procedures for external quality ssurance in LLL.

Quality Assurance and Learning Outcomes (pdf) (29. Mar. 2011)

This report is based on the ENQA workshop on the theme “Quality Assurance
and Learning Outcomes” that was held in September 2010 in Vienna, Austria.
The workshop addressed the question of what stakeholders expect from quality
assurance agencies in connection with learning outcome orientation. The
opportunities and challenges of the learning outcome orientation in the higher
education sector were discussed from different perspectives. The workshop tried to
define the role that learning outcomes should play in external quality assurance and
how they can or should be considered within the scope of external quality assurance.

Quality Assurance and Transparency Tools (pdf) (24. Mar. 2011)

This report is based on the contents and results of an ENQA seminar on
quality assurance and transparency tools, hosted by Magna Charta Observatory of
Fundamental University Values and Rights on 17–18 May 2010 in Bologna, Italy.
The purpose of this seminar was to discuss expectations from HEIs and other
stakeholders concerning information on quality of HE and the contribution of
quality assurance and transparency tools to meet these expectations.

Internal Quality Assurance - Enhancing quality culture (pdf) (07. Mar. 2011)

This report gathers samples of good and ineffective practices on internal quality assurance, following an annual ENQA seminar on Internal Quality Assurance -Enhancing quality culture. The seminar was hosted by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA, UK) on 8-9 June, 2010 in London, United Kingdom. The seminar provided a platform for discussing shared challenges, concerns, innovative ideas and future expectations which may then be applied to individual IQA practices and/or future IQA processes.

Internal Quality Assurance - Facing common challenges (pdf) (18. Feb. 2011)

The present report follows an ENQA seminar on the Internal Quality Assurance - Facing Common Challenges. The seminar was hosted by the The Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO), and took place in The Hague, The Netherlands, in June 2009. Staff members of ENQA member agencies discussed the common, tangible challenges they frequently encounter in their daily operations.

Quality Assurance of E-learning (pdf) (14. Jan. 2011)

The present report follows an ENQA workshop on the Quality Assurance of E-learning. The workshop was hosted by the National Agency for Higher Education (NAHE), and took place at Kristina Konferens & Hotell in Sigtuna, Sweden, on 7-8 October 2009. The workshop provided a discussion ground for quality assurance agencies about the development of e-learning to enhance borderless education.

Quality Assurance in Postgraduate Education (pdf) (28. May. 2010)

The present report follows an ENQA Workshop on Quality Assurance and Postgraduate Education, hosted by the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS) in Brasov, Romania on 12–13 March 2009. The workshop was an excellent opportunity for ENQA members to exchange information, define concepts and examine best practice related to quality assurance of postgraduate education.

Quality Assurance in Transnational Higher Education (pdf) (29. Jan. 2010)

The present report is the product of an ENQA Bologna Seminar “Quality Assurance in Transnational Education: from words to action” hosted by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA, UK) in London in December, 2008. The seminar discussed the current trends in Transnational landscapes, the influence of the UNESCO-OECD Guidelines for cross-border higher education and their compatibility with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area. The outcomes of the seminar were later presented as recommendations to the Bologna Follow-up Group.

First external evaluations of quality assurance agencies – lessons learned (pdf) (26. Jan. 2010)

This report is a product of an ENQA seminar on the first external evaluations of quality assurance agencies, held in Paris in July 2008. The seminar took stock of the achieved reviews of agencies to learn lessons from these first outcomes and, hence, provided a platform for continuous enhancement of this process in the future. This report gives a background and overview of external reviews, and presents the perspectives and experiences of agencies and expert teams on the review process.

Programme-oriented and institutional-oriented approaches to quality assurance: new developments and mixed approaches (pdf) (07. Aug. 2009)

This report is the result of an ENQA workshop, hosted by the German Accreditation Council (GAC) in Berlin in June 2008, which gave an opportunity to share experience of linking both programme-oriented and institutional-oriented approaches and to present different paths to a combined approach according to the different legal and political national backgrounds. The report brings together articles presenting national experiences and approaches to quality assurance in six European countries, and offers a range of various examples of quality assurance systems.

Current Trends in European Quality Assurance (pdf) (26. May. 2009)

This report is the result of two regional seminars on current trends in European Quality
Assurance organised by ENQA in 2007. The seminars were held in Sofia, Bulgaria and
The Holy See, Vatican City. The Sofia seminar was organised in cooperation with the
National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (NEAA). The Holy See seminar was
organised in collaboration with the Congregation for Catholic Education, the Agency
for the Evaluation and Promotion of Quality in Ecclesiastical Faculties (AVEPRO) and
the Pontifical Academy of Sciences.

Assessing educational quality: Knowledge production and the role of experts (pdf) (09. Apr. 2009)

This report is a product of an ENQA Workshop “Assessing educational quality: Knowledge production and the role of experts” hosted by the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT) in Oslo in February, 2008. The workshop gathered representatives from higher education institutions and agencies to exchange and discuss experiences on the process of external reviews and on the role of the review experts in that process.

Internal Quality Assurance and the European Standards and Guidelines (pdf) (18. Dec. 2008)

The present report is a product of "Internal QA -systems and the ESG"
seminar in Barcelona in April 2008 that also constituted the first annual
meeting of the ENQA IQA Group. Among other issues, the European standard
(and ENQA membership criterion) on accountability procedures was extensively
discussed in the seminar.

Quality Assurance and Qualifications Frameworks (pdf) (24. Jul. 2008)

The present report is a product of the “ENQA Workshop on Quality Assurance and
Qualifications Frameworks”, hosted by the ENQA member agency HETAC in Dublin in June 2007. The articles have been submitted by the presenters of the workshop. The report gives an overview on recent European developments and examines the implications of the qualifications frameworks for quality assurance in different European countries.

Student involvement in the processes of quality assurance agencies (pdf) (26. Mar. 2007)

The present report is a product of the “ENQA workshop on student involvement in the processes of quality assurance agencies” hosted by the ENQA member agency ANECA in Madrid in October 2006. It includes four articles submitted by the presenters of the workshop as well as an analysis of the ENQA membership survey on student involvement.

Accreditation Models in Higher Education (pdf) (25. Nov. 2004)

ENQA has published its third workshop report, on the contents and results of a seminar on accreditation models. The event has hosted by the Comitato per la Valutazione del Sistema Universitario, an ENQA member agency.
