ENQA ESG 2027 transition policy

ENQA is pleased to publish its transition policy for the revised Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the Higher Education Area (ESG) expected to be adopted by the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) Ministers at the Ministerial Conference in Romania/Moldova in May 2027.

To ensure a smooth transition and allow agencies to plan ahead, the ENQA Board has adopted the transition policy for timelines of agency reviews and ENQA membership renewal. The policy applies to agencies that are due to sign a contract for an external review in 2027 and in particular provides the option for agencies to postpone their review and membership renewal in order to make any necessary changes to align with the ESG 2027.

The policy has been developed in close cooperation with the European Quality Assurance Register (EQAR), and is fully compatible with their own transition arrangements for EQAR listing, which will be disseminated soon to registered agencies. The policy also takes into account the shortened timelines for ENQA Agency Reviews, in accordance with the new Guidelines, published earlier this year.

For any questions about the policy, agencies may contact ENQA’s Head of Agency Reviews, Goran Dakovic (goran.dakovic@enqa.eu).
