Members present at the ENQA General Assembly 2025 in Brussels, Belgium, elected three Board members: Marilena Maniaci (ANVUR, Italy) was elected for a first full three-year term after serving a replacement term; Bryan Maguire (QQI, Ireland) was elected for a first term of three years; and Federico Morán (madri+d, Spain) was elected for a first term of three years. Board member Cristina Ghițulică (ARACIS, Romania) was elected as President, and Board members Kristin Vinje (NOKUT, Norway) and Patrick Van den Bosch (VLUHR-QA, Belgium) were elected as Vice-Presidents.
Incoming President Cristina Ghițulică emphasised that “it is a great honour to be elected ENQA President, and I consider it a huge responsibility, as I am deeply committed to ENQA and its role in shaping the European quality assurance and higher education systems. I see this as a continuation of my work and a culmination of the last six years during which I served as a Vice-President of the Association – under two different Presidents, to whom I extend my appreciation and many thanks for their collaboration and support.”
In his last speech as ENQA President, Douglas Blackstock said: “It’s been a blast! During these years, I’ve had the absolute pleasure of learning from all of you: ENQA is such a productive environment! I’m also very lucky that I had the support of my agency, QAA.”
Members present at the General Assembly also endorsed the Board’s decisions to grant membership to the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education in Andorra (AQUA); and to reconfirm membership of the following five agencies: the Quality Assurance Agency for the University System in Castilla y León (ACSUCYL, Spain), the National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes (ANVUR, Italy), the British Accreditation Council (BAC, United Kingdom), Madrimasd Knowledge Foundation (Madri+d, Spain), and the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC, Türkiye).
