ENQA and SIACES (Sistema Iberoamericano de Aseguramiento de la Calidad de la Educación Superior) have agreed to develop transatlantic cooperation in higher education quality assurance in the mutual interests of our members and the higher education system more broadly. The agreement was signed in Buenos Aires on 21 April when an ENQA delegation attended the General Assembly of SIACES.
ENQA President Douglas Blackstock said: ‘In Europe we can learn from quality assurance practices in Ibero America and share our own experiences with our colleagues in SIACES. ENQA has already contributed to the developing global language and understanding of approaches to quality in higher education through our work with regional networks of agencies in Africa and Southeast Asia. This new agreement helps build trust and understanding in our respective systems, and supports cross-border collaboration in higher education.’
