In 2025, the European Commission committed to launching the Joint European Degree Label as part of the Council Recommendation on a European quality assurance and recognition system in higher education. The criteria for the Label were agreed and set out in Annex II of the Recommendation. With the Operational Guide now available, the practical work of implementation can start. ENQA’s briefing note (June 2026) provides an overview of the Guide’s key elements and their implications for the rollout of the Joint European Degree Label.
