New publication: Proposals for future alignment of the quality assurance frameworks of the European Higher Education Area and the Ibero-American Knowledge Area

The ESG‑PBP Alignment project has published a report titled Proposals for Future Alignment of the Quality Assurance Frameworks of the European Higher Education Area and the Ibero‑American Knowledge Area. The report presents the outcomes of the second and last phase of the project, which examines correspondences and differences between the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) and the Principles and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the Ibero‑American Knowledge Area (PBP). Building on a comparative study conducted during the project’s first phase, it analyses structural similarities and divergences between the two frameworks and outlines proposals to facilitate dialogue, mutual learning, and cooperation among quality assurance agencies in both regions. In this respect, ENQA has coordinated the chapter containing potential areas of development for the alignment of the ESG to the PBP.

The publication considers the contextual differences, priorities, and institutional cultures that shape each system, while suggesting ways to enhance compatibility and support trust and recognition across regions. The proposals are intended to stimulate discussion rather than prescribe solutions, providing a basis for further reflection and collaborative initiatives.

The report is available in English and Spanish and can be accessed here.
