ENQA Seminar – Implementation of the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education

ENQA organised, in cooperation with the Central and Eastern European Network (CEEN), a seminar on the implementation of the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ESG). The event was hosted by the Austrian FH Council which is a member of both ENQA and CEEN.

The main goal of this topical seminar was to analyse the contents and implementation of the ESG from the viewpoint of the European quality assurance agencies. Also, the opportunities and barriers for the development of good quality created by the ESG were discussed.

In addition to thorough exploration of the ESG contents in working groups, the four following examples on their implementation were considered:

• Self-evaluation exercise;
• Recognition by ENQA of the results of the national reviews;
• Integration of the ESG into the national quality assurance systems;
• Emerging quality assurance systems and the ESG.
