AQUIB - Agency for the Quality of the University in the Balearic Islands

The Agency for the Quality of the University in the Balearic Islands (AQUIB) is the official agency for the evaluation of higher education in the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands in Spain. It was created in 2003 by Law 2/2003, of March 20, on the Institutional Organization of the University System of the Balearic Islands. It is independent from the regional government, directed by a Board of Directors.

AQUIB’s mission is to contribute to the improvement of the assurance of the quality of the Balearic Islands university system through evaluation, certification, and accreditation in the field of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and management.

The main activities of the Agency are:

  • The evaluation of the Balearic University System study programmes (bachelor, master and doctorate) in order to get their accreditation renewal.
  • The follow up of the implementation of the study programmes verified by the Council of Universities in the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB).
  • Evaluation and accreditation the teaching and research staff for recruitment purposes.
  • Evaluation of the teaching and research personnel of the UIB in order to obtain autonomous complementary payments.
  • Evaluation of various calls for grants for Research, Development and Innovation (R+D+I) activities.
