YÖDAK • Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Council

YÖDAK is an ENQA Affiliate.

Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK) was initially established within the Ministry of National Education in 1993 with the law “Establishment, Duties, Evaluation and Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions” numbered 2/1993. The law was later amended and YÖDAK became an autonomous council in 2005. The Higher Education Law includes articles which state that the higher education system in Northern Cyprus is in line with the rules of the Bologna Process in terms of credit system, mobility, qualifications framework and quality assurance. YÖDAK is responsible for the planning, evaluation, accreditation, and coordination of higher education in North Cyprus. YÖDAK has focused mainly on the strategic planning of higher education, the coordination of universities, and most importantly establishing and maintaining auditing and quality assurance mechanisms.
