This document presents the outcomes of the second and final phase of the ESG-PBP Alignment project, a joint initiative by ENQA and SIACES coordinated by ANECA (Spain). The project brings together a working group composed of both networks’ secretariats and ten quality assurance agencies from the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and the Ibero-American Knowledge Area (EIC).
Building on the results of the comparative study carried out during the project’s first phase, this publication offers proposals for the potential future alignment between the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) and the Principles and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the Ibero-American Knowledge Area (PBP). While the first report highlighted the many fundamental similarities between both frameworks, this second phase focuses on analyzing the differences identified and fostering reflection and dialogue among agencies that apply these systems. The result is a shared perspective aimed at mutual learning, greater trust, and stronger bi-regional cooperation to address common challenges in quality assurance.
