The European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education concluded their work between the years 2014-2019 in a report on their completed initiatives. Concerning higher education (HE), during this period, the committee looked into the developments in the Bologna Process where they concluded that while a lot of progress has been made, there is still more work to be done to adjust educational systems to labour market needs, improve overall employability and competitiveness, and boost the attractiveness of HE. The Parliament, among other issues, encourages efforts to strengthen the link between HE, research and innovation.
The committee also reported concerning Brexit contingency measures for the Erasmus+ programme, where it was agreed that in the prospect of a no-deal Brexit, that people on an Erasmus+ learning mobility exchange on the date of the UK’s withdrawal can complete their exchange.
