The Global Education Monitoring Report, which monitors progress towards the internationally agreed Sustainable Development Goal for Education (SDG4), has recently published the 2019 edition in its GEM Report series, entitled Migration, displacement & education: Building bridges, not walls.
The report presents evidence on the implications of different types of migration and displacement for education systems as well as the impact that reforming education curricula and approaches to pedagogy and teacher preparation can have on addressing the challenges and opportunities posed by migration and displacement. The report also looks at the role of recognition of qualifications in mobility. The report recommends that countries harmonise tertiary education standards and quality assurance mechanisms to recognise academic qualifications at the bilateral, regional or global level.
